Build and optical quality are as good as any of my optional Lensbaby optics, I just found this one to be a bit less utilitarian than their other optics. I think what bothers me about it is the extreme vignetting that makes the central subject difficult to really see unless the image is blown up pretty large. Admittedly this is somewhat subjective
